From the creators of Bloons TD 6 comes a brand new installment of the top-rated head-to-head tower defense game. Gather your Hero, choose your team of powerful Monkey Towers, and prepare to battle one on one against other players and relentless waves of Bloons...
Bloons TD Battles 2, also known as Battles 2 or BTDB2, is a competitive tower defense game developed and published by Ninja Kiwi on November 30, 2021 for Steam and mobile devices. As a direct sequel to Bloons TD Battles 1 and spinoff game of Bloons TD 6, Bloons TD Battles 2 is the latest game in the Bloons Tower Defense series and second main title in the Bloons TD 6 Generation.
Each game, both players are presented with a symmetric map split vertically. Player 1 is assigned the left side and Player 2 is assigned the right side. Players can only interact with the map on their side. On each map, there is a path, or paths, which Bloons will traverse. Upon reaching the exit of a player's side, these Bloons will deduct a certain number of lives from that player's 150 life total. The first player to reach zero lives will lose. In this way, the primary objective of BTDB2 is to get the other player to lose all lives first. The two core gameplay mechanics which players utilize to achieve this goal are tower defense and "Bloon Send" offense.
After a game is finished, players will earn Monkey Money to purchase base towers, XP (Experience Points) to unlock upgrades and cosmetic items for their Towers and Heroes, Battle Points for randomized reward chests, and Trophies, the effective skill level indicator for a player. If a player wins a game, they earn an increased amount of XP and Battle Points and one trophy (two if the player is on a three game win-streak or higher and they are below ZOMG Superdome). If a player loses a game, they earn a normal level of XP and Battle Points, but will lose one trophy (Except if playing in the Red Bloon Camp, the lowest arena). If a tie occurs, neither player will gain or lose trophies, and the game is treated as a mutual loss. Likewise is the case if both players are disconnected at the same time, but instead "Defeat!" is displayed.
In Bloons TD Battles 2, the overall gameplay has been refined to fit many of the popular features in the 2020's, and shares similarities to Clash Royale by SuperCell. Much of these involve real-time to optimize gameplay experience. Battle Seasons for unique cosmetics and emotes, and players can unlock new towers and heroes including their cosmetics and emotes. One can level up existing towers and unlocking them with XP or unlocking new towers and heroes with Monkey Money, and can also spend their currency on cosmetics that have minimal impact on gameplay. Battle Chests can be earned to provide a boost in Monkey Money, Tower XP, Hero Points, and Universal XP, and Reward Boosters.
As a competitive tower defense game, effective tactics in Bloons TD Battles 2 constantly evolves based on Balance Changes, player trends, and individual opponent strategy. Because of this, there is various community development on meta strategies and general advice on how to optimize gameplay in Battles 2. Bloons TD Battles 2/Strategies will help introduce a series of concepts analyzing strategical gameplay of this game.
Additionally, due to the dangerous nature of said animals (sans brahmin), these pens reduce the level of defense of the settlement but provide more food than typical plots as well as occasionally provide related items (e.g. radroaches provide glowing blood etc., molerats provide teeth etc).
7 of these agricultural plots are "open" - they have low walls around them (at L4 some spikes). They consume a little extra water (-1 water), provide extra food (+1 food per level), and provide some "wild food" (+1 wild food per level). Note that these open plots/gardens are a little smaller than the full plot size - so settlers can walk around them. If I've messed up the crops on them, let me know.7 of these agricultural plots are "walled" - they have tall walls around them, starting at L2 and fully-built at L3 (at L4 they also have spikes along the top of the walls, to keep out those who try to get over and steal the crops). These walled plots have four extra features (in addition to the above):1/ At L2-4 they provide a small defense bonus (all those walls and spikes cause thieves and raiders to be wary)2/ At L2-4 they have snap-points - you can snap walls and roofs to them (allows building settlement outer walls off the ag plots, or you can build a small complex centered around them)3/ At L2-4 each plot has 8 different looks, from various brick through concrete through stone through deco blocks - if you don't like the look that is randomly chosen, refresh the plot to get a new look4/ At L3-4 they have built-in lights (so your settlers can easily see whatever might be raiding the farm)
Each martial plot will act as a job for a single settler and add to the overall defense score [60] and 20 happiness at level 3 of your settlement. Martial plot structures are designed to provide far more defense than you could get with a vanilla guard post. Even if you can't/don't upgrade them they'll still have a huge positive impact on your settlement and will give you a reasonable alternative to just spamming turrets.
1. 100 power, extended radius.2. 100 power, extended radius, 40 each of beds, water, food, 100 defense, 10,000 happiness which will max settlement happiness. This is nearly the same as the original mod in terms of resources, I changed the amount of defense from the original 40 to 100.3. 100 power, extended radius, 40 each of beds, water, food, 100 defense, 100 happiness (a level 3 bar provides 40 happiness).4. 100 power, extended radius, 150 each of beds, water, food, 500 defense, 10,000 happiness.
For those wanting to mix/match you can pair 1 with any of the following:5. 50 defense only.6. 50 water only.7. 50 food only.8. 50 beds only.9. 100 happiness only (a level 3 bar provides 40 happiness).
The plot has no upgrade levels, and is meant to be scrapped when the settlement reaches 4 population. At that point, the settlers would Ideally start working 2 food, 1 water, 1 defense plot and begin their Agricultural Revolution!
Fantastic game! Love the sound design, music, and gameplay. The shader that you made adds a lot to the graphics quality. Having moving towers in a tower defense game adds a surprising amount of entertainment value while spectating. I hope that you continue working on this game!
